Fox News’ Harris Faulkner was disturbed by Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s request for a picture of a journalist who asked multiple questions he didn’t want to answer.
You can see the concern on Faulkner’s face when the panel discussed what seemed like an odd request from Buttigieg. She asked, “When the Transportation Secretary asked to take your picture, why do you think he does that?”
She shared with the panel she had reached out to his team because “I felt that free speech was being chilled, and I just wanted to hear that it wasn’t.” Harris explained she wants to sit down with the transportation secretary as she has a myriad of questions for him.
“Honestly why did you need her picture?” Harris asked again. Kayleigh McEnany jumped in adding that she found it odd as well. “Maybe he takes a picture of everybody,” Harris added in conjecture, but clearly it was bothersome.
She shared her more in-depth thoughts about the interaction on Twitter:
“Why did the Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg need a picture of a member of our FREE press? Is he trying to be funny… or is something else at play here? Targeting? Journalists are allowed to speak with public officials who are in public. #politereporter”
Bill Hemmer said of the interaction, “not a great look” referring to how Buttigieg handled himself.
R. Davis Younts applauded Jennie Taer, the journalist who asked Buttigieg some easy questions he refused to answer before he made the whole interaction weird.
Memphis Morning News did a segment on it as well.
Conservative commentator Liz Wheeler called out Buttigieg for another comment he made when questioned by Taer.
“Pete Buttigieg is the smuggest, rudest, most condescending brat. You are not a celebrity, Pete, you work for us. Buttigieg refuses to talk to reporter: ‘I’m taking some personal time right now.'”
Buttigieg has seemingly embarrassed himself with the handling of the derailment in East Palestine and only added to it with his odd interactions since.
