Jack Dorsey Calls the Twitter Board That He is Still on ‘The Dysfunction of the Company,’ Admits He Isn’t ‘Allowed’ to Say That

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey may have gotten himself in some hot water yesterday, but apparently, he doesn’t appear to be too concerned about it.

The potential controversy began with a tweet by Garry Tan, who is the founder of Initialized Capital.

Tan declared, “The wrong partner on your board can literally make a billion dollars in value evaporate.”

“It is not the sole reason behind every startup failure but it is the true story a surprising percentage of the time,” Tan insisted.

That tweet was responded to by Microsoft employee Tren Griffin, who shared a quote from Fred Destin who said, “What I do know for sure is that this old Silicon Valley proverb is grounded in age-old wisdom that still applies today: Good boards don’t create good companies, but a bad board will kill a company every time.”

Dorsey initially replied to Griffin, “Big facts.”

Another Twitter user responded to Dorsey, “If look into the history of Twitter board, it’s intriguing as I was a witness on its early beginnings, mired in plots and coups, and particularly amongst Twitter’s founding members. I wish if it could be made into a Hollywood thriller one day.”

“It’s consistently been the dysfunction of the company,” Dorsey explained in response to that Twitter user.

Twitter user “yeet” then asked Dorsey, “Are you allowed to say this?” to which he admitted, “No.”

As we previously reported, Dorsey is scheduled to step down from the board next month, so that could be why he is no longer concerned with any potential ramifications.
