Jim Jordan Calls Out ‘Democrat-Run Chicago’ After 26 Shot and 8 Killed in Lori Lightfoot’s Final Weekend as Mayor

U.S. House Rep Jim Jordan (R-OH) called out “Democrat-run Chicago” after 26 people were shot and eight people were killed in Lori Lightfoot’s final weekend as Mayor.

Progressive Brandon Johnson was sworn in as Mayor this morning, ending the four-year tenure of Lightfoot, who was outspoken against Donald Trump when he was president.

Jordan shared an article from Chicago’s ABC 7 news station in a tweet and reported, “26 shot. 6 killed. One weekend.”

The article was ultimately later updated to report that two more of the victims had succumbed to their injuries.

“Democrat-run Chicago,” Jordan lamented in the tweet.

According to CPD, at least 20 people were shot last weekend, including four fatally, and that included a Chicago police officer.

It seems possible that the violence could get worse during Johnson’s tenure, as he plans a “holistic” public safety plan to combat it.

When unrest swept downtown in April, Johnson condemned the violence but insisted that it was “not constructive to demonize youth who have otherwise been starved of opportunities in their own communities.”

  1. In Chicago alone as of April 18, 2023, 688 people were murdered, mostly black on black. That breaks down to 138 mass shootings, if five are killed per event. That’s just in one inner city. How about St Louis, Cincinnati, Detroit etc. That translates to hundreds of mass shootings by blacks annually.

  2. You left out the hundreds of blacks killed in mass shootings by other blacks in inner cities.
