Joe Biden Hints at Possible Oversight of Elon Musk’s Twitter Purchase When Asked if the Chief Twit is a ‘National Security Threat’

In a bizarre exchange today, Joe Biden hinted at possible oversight of Elon Musk’s Twitter purchase when asked if the Chief Twit is a “National security threat.”

After apparently asking him an unrelated question, a reporter asked Biden. “Do you think Elon Musk is a threat to U.S. national security and should the U.S., with the tools you have, investigate his joint acquisition of Twitter with foreign governments including the Saudis?”

Biden chuckled and then spoke slowly, “I think that Elon Musk’s cooperation and/or technical relationships with other countries is worthy of being looked at.”

“Whether or not he is doing anything inappropriate, I’m not suggesting that, I’m suggesting it’s worth being looked at and that’s all I’ll say,” Biden added.

The reporter apparently then shouted off mic, “How?” to which Biden responded, “There’s a lot of ways…”

U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) previously called an investigation into the national security implications of a company partially owned by Saudi Arabia maintaining its stake in Twitter.

“Today I am requesting the Committee on Foreign Investment — which reviews acquisitions of U.S. businesses by foreign buyers — to conduct an investigation into the national security implications of Saudi Arabia’s purchase of Twitter,” Murphy declared in a tweet.

After being questioned about whether there was really anything to the situation by a journalist, Murphy explained in a quote tweet, “The Saudis could have cashed out, like most everyone else.”

“That would have been the financially sound thing to do. Instead, they allied with Musk … There’s a clear political motivation to their decision, and CFIUS should get to the bottom of it,” Murphy insisted.
