OPINION:
Well, the Democrat’s disdain for the president and his ardent supports seems to know no bounds. Joe Biden, who is vying for the top job in the nation, is also gunning for the moderate vote, and even trying to get some Republicans on board with his campaign.
Recently conservative icon and radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who is loved by many including President Trump, tragically announced he is dealing with advanced lung cancer. For someone like Joe Biden, one might think that even though Limbaugh is on opposite sides of the political spectrum, a slam on someone who just announced a devastating and possibly life-ending cancer diagnosis with broad support from moderate and hardline Republicans alike, would be off-limits.
Biden made a judgment call last night that, Limbaugh indeed was not off-limits. Although the attack wasn’t directed at Limbaugh specifically, and more so at President Trump, Joe Biden lambasted Trump’s decision to give Rush the Medal of Freedom. This in spite of the fact that while Biden was VP, Barack Obama gave out awards to left-wing celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres.
Instead, Biden apparently believes that President Donald Trump is somehow supposed to give out a Medal of Freedom to someone who contributed to the Democrat’s attempt at having him removed from the highest office in the land. Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a key witness for the Democrats in the impeachment debacle in the U.S. House was let go from his White House post yesterday by the president. Despite which party you are in, Biden’s idea just doesn’t make any sense and comes off as pandering.
You can see Biden’s comments from last night’s Democrat debate in the video below where he asks the crowd to stand up and clap for Alexander Vindman, because of the fact that he was just fired moments before this by President Trump.
The Daily Caller reported on the debacle as well:
Biden attacked Trump for his constant quips at Democratic candidates, noting that the president thinks “he has free reign.” The former vice president went on to dismiss Trump’s decision to give Limbaugh the Medal of Freedom during Tuesday’s 2020 State of the Union, claiming the honor should have gone to Vindman, who was fired from the White House earlier Friday.
“He [Trump] thinks he has free reign right now,” Biden began. “One of the things that I think is really important is we have to be authentic with the American people about what we’re gonna do and how we’re gonna do it. And by the way, Col. Vindman got thrown out of the White House today, walked out.”
“I think we should – and at the same time – he should be pinning a medal on Vindman and not on Rush Limbaugh.”
Biden continued his speech by telling the New Hampshire crowd to give Vindman a standing ovation. Those attending the Democratic debate stood up and cheered for the lieutenant colonel, who was formally the Director for European Affairs for the United States National Security Council (NSC). He was escorted from the White House Friday.
This all comes at a time when Biden is struggling in the polls and didn’t even come in third at the recent Democrat Iowa caucuses, which were a debacle in their own right. At first, Biden tried to shrug off the 4th place position by blaming it on reporting errors, but it’s clear now that is definitely not the Democrats favorite in the swing state of Iowa.
