Joy Reid Asks Police Officers to Please Not Stop Black People to Give them Free Turkeys, ‘It’s Traumatizing’

MSNBC’s Joy Reid does not want Black people to get free turkeys from generous police officers who were doing so. I assume she’s still fine with people getting free turkeys in the form of EBT cards. But not like this. Oh no, Houston, we have a problem.

Fox News reported on a story headlined:

“Police pull over drivers to give turkeys, not tickets, for Thanksgiving” to which Reid says:

Please stop doing this, officers, especially to Black people. It’s traumatizing, given the history of what happens to us in traffic stops. And if someone is driving a car (in one of these cases to COSTCO, which requires a membership fee) they can buy a turkey. End of TED Talk.

It’s unclear if Joy Reid polled all Black Americans or all Americans who may have struggled to purchase an expensive turkey during the failing Biden administration’s inflation crisis. But she is pretty sure she’s right. We’re really not even sure what else to say here.

Fox News had reported in part:

In honor of Thanksgiving 2021, law enforcement has been surprising drivers with frozen turkeys instead of tickets.

The holiday cheer was recently spread by the Mesa Police Department in Mesa, Arizona, by gifting birds to people who thought they were being pulled over for a violation, Fox 10 Phoenix reported.

“When you made your turn, you made a wide turn. You’re supposed to stay in your lane,” Officer Jason Flam of the Mesa Police Department told a motorist.

Instead of returning from his police cruiser with a ticket, Flam offered a turkey.

Flam told Fox 10 that some stops were emotional, bringing one man to tears.

“…I don’t think they can afford the turkey, so it worked out really good,” said Flam.

Previously we reported that Joy Reid’s job may be on the line:

Time will if she keeps her job or what people ultimately think of free turkeys but Thanksgiving is over now. So perhaps for Christmas Reid can come up with some better ideas, or does she believe in Christmas?
