Cook County Judge James Linn has sentenced former “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett to a 150-day active jail sentence to begin immediately and 30-month felony probation as well.
Additionally, Smollett is to pay restitution and fines.
Smollett declared that he is not suicidal and that he is innocent after the sentence was handed down.
Linn excoriated Smollett during the sentencing and said that he believed the actor did it for attention mainly and to draw attention to social justice.
The sentencing hearing dragged out as the defense attempted to get the case dismissed and pleaded for leniency.
Smollett was previously convicted on five of six charges he staged an anti-gay, racist attack on himself nearly three years ago and then lied to Chicago police about it.
The disorderly conduct charges he was convicted of are listed as class 4 felonies, which are among the least serious felonies in Illinois and carried potential prison time of up to three years.
