Kamala Harris celebrated casting her 26th tie-breaking vote in the Senate, which helped pass the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
The vote by Harris now puts her only five votes away from tieing the record for most tie-breaking votes by a Vice President.
Over the weekend, Harris made three tie-breaking votes in total, as she had previously cast 23 tie-breaking votes.
In a tweet, Harris announced, “This afternoon I cast the tie-breaking vote on the Inflation Reduction Act.”
“This bill will help lower inflation and the cost of living for millions of American families—lowering the cost of health care, prescription drugs, and everyday energy costs,” Harris claimed.

Prior to that, Harris retweeted Joe Biden, who said, “Today, Senate Democrats voted to lower the cost of Rx drugs, health insurance, and energy — all while reducing the deficit and making the richest corporations pay their fair share.”
“I ran to make government work for working families again. That’s what this bill does — period,” Biden insisted.

Harris ultimately revealed one of the primary goals of the legislation in a subsequent tweet where she called the IRA “something to celebrate.”
“Today, the Senate made the largest investment in history in combatting the climate crisis,” Harris stressed.

Harris wasn’t finished, however, as she made one last tweet yesterday where she suggested that “The wealthiest corporations are finally going to pay their fair share under the Inflation Reduction Act.”

Today, Harris picked up where she left off as she circled back to the “Climate Crisis,” which she said “is here.”
“We will make significant progress in tackling this crisis by providing tax credits and investments in clean energy and transportation while also creating millions of jobs thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act,” Harris asserted.

As we previously reported, U.S. Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-CO) had other feelings about the bill as she declared in a tweet today, “Let me be extremely clear – I am 100% against this Inflation Expansion Act TRASH.”
“This bill is one of the most dangerous bills ever proposed in the US Congress,” Boebert stressed.
