Lease Agreement Authorized For Additional Border Wall to Be Erected on Texas State Land

Yesterday, In a press release, GOP Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the signing of a lease agreement between the General Land Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety which will authorize additional border wall to be erected on Texas state land.

The authorization is for a stretch of the border along a GLO-owned farm tract in Starr County, which is to the northwest of McAllen, Texas, a hotspot for illegal immigration.

The press release stated that the signing of the agreement was the latest effort to “mitigate the immigration crisis” following an emergency declaration to complete the Texas border wall by GOP Gov. Greg Abbott.

Bush lashed out at President Joe Biden in the statement and said, “Washington continues to ignore the Biden administration’s border crisis, leaving Texans no choice but to take matters into our own hands.”

“Lease revenue for this land directly benefits the most important asset in Texas – our schoolchildren,” Bush explained.

Bush asserted that “As the border crisis continues to escalate, the lives of Texans are being endangered and we are at serious risk of losing revenue generated from leased lands along the Texas-Mexico border.”

“I thank DPS for their partnership on this critical issue – working together, we will secure our border,” Bush concluded.

Abbott tweeted out a Newsmax story on the news and declared, “It’s going up soon.”

In a tweet also sharing the same story, Bush said that he was “proud” to make the announcement.

An article from BorderReport.com reports that it will be chain-link fencing and the area is nearly five square miles of farm tract.
