Left-wing protesters today descended on the White House in Washington D.C. and vandalized the Andrew Jackson statue with the words, “Expect us.”
The Indigenous Environmental Network bragged about the vandalism in a tweet where they shared pictures from the protest and attempted to define the vandalism as the statue being “redecorated.”
“The Andrew Jackson statue at the @WhiteHouse was redecorated! Today is #IndigenousPeoplesDay but don’t get it twisted, colonization is not over,” the network insisted.
The network then claimed, “Native ppls are still fighting settler violence via fossil fuel extraction across Turtle Island! #PeopleVsFossilFuels“

Jonathan Turley brought up House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) in regards to the vandalism and reminded his followers of a phrase she used during last summer’s statue vandalism.
“The answer must be more than ‘people will do what they do,'” Turley explained.

The Washington Post’s Ellie Silverman shared a tweet thread on the protests which she began by explaining that it was part of, “People vs Fossil Fuels, a week of demonstrations to demand Biden stop approving fossil fuel projects and declare a national climate emergency.”
“Indigenous activists are leading the fight,” Silverman pointed out.
At one point, Silverman tweeted out a video which showed the protesters chanting at the U.S. Park Police to “Quit your job.”
Ultimately, the Secret Service reportedly told the protesters to disperse and used a fence to move some back while issuing citations to others.
