“@BoredElonMusk” shared the ‘Rotten Tomatoes’ review ratings for “The Super Mario Bros. Movie”. The critics have given the movie a failing grade of 53% while the Audience scored it with an A+ at 98%.
“Content review systems are broken. Because critics have a problem with Chris Pratt, the “experts” have deemed the new Mario movie a D- even though audiences clearly love it. Both of these groups are obviously biased, but the disparity here reveals a major problem.”
CEO of Twitter Elon Musk replied, “Wow, the critics are so disconnected from reality!”
Liberal activist and actor John Leguizamo gave some possible insight as to why critics may have given the film such a low rating. Leguizamo blasted the film claimed it went “all white” and shared he wasn’t going to watch it.
Leguizamo was cast as Luigi in 1993’s live-action “Super Mario Bros.” he has no love for the new film that fans seem to enjoy. He shared on TMZ, “No I will not [be watching]. They could’ve included a Latin character. Like I was groundbreaking and then they stopped the groundbreaking. They messed up the inclusion. They dis-included. Just cast some Latin folk! We’re 20% of the population. The largest people of color group and we are underrepresented.”
He echoed what he had said previously on Twitter, “too bad they went all white! No Latinx in the leads! Groundbreaking color-blind casting in original! Plus I’m the only one who knows how to make this movie work script-wise!”
Leguizamo must have missed that Anya Taylor-Joy voiced Princess Peach in the movie. Taylor-Joy lived in Argentina and has Argentine heritage.
With a less diverse cast than Leguizamo and critics may want or perceive, the movie still appears to be a hit with audiences.
