Liberals on Twitter are calling for Sean Hannity to be fired from Fox News after text messages that were sent to Mark Meadows around Jan. 6 were revealed.
Many are comparing the situation to what happened with Chris Cuomo, suggesting that he hasn’t been upfront about his involvement in advising the White House.
Twitter verified reporter Dan Sweeney said in a quote tweet of HuffPost’s S.V. Dáte, “Note how Hannity doesn’t say ‘You can’t lose the entire WH counsel’s office.’ He says ‘We can’t.'”
“As an opinion journalist myself, this is the sort of cozy crap that makes all of us look bad. But Fox News will never do to Hannity what CNN did to Chris Cuomo, of course,” Sweeney insisted.
Dáte reported that “The Jan. 6 Committee is asking Sean Hannity for information, but from the letter it sent him, it looks like they have quite a bit about his contacts with the WH already, including his concern that the WH Counsel’s office would resign en masse over Trump’s scheme.”
“Hannity is texting Meadows the night of Jan. 5, again worried that the WH Counsel’s lawyers will quit. And that he’s ‘very worried about the next 48 hours,'” Dáte explained.
Inserting a partisan opinion of his own, Dáte then asked, “(Side note: How does Fox News continue to employ Sean Hannity?)” adding “Unbelievable” in a follow-up reply.

Anti-Trump Twitter user Jeff Dash declared in a tweet, “I may criticize @CNN, but it immediately separated itself from Chris Cuomo when it became apparent he had a side gig as political operative.”
“If Hannity is on the air tonight, @FoxNews has forever forfeited the right to call its staff journalists,” Dash suggested.

Washington Post reporter Paul Farhi shared an article about Hannity’s texts and asserted, “Chris Cuomo was fired for giving advice he shouldn’t have given.”
Journalist Stephen L. Miller came to Hannity’s defense in a quote tweet and told Farhi, “No. Chris Cuomo was fired for sexual harassment accusations.”
“He also lied about his involvement in digging up information on his brothers accusers to use in public smear campaigns. You should genuinely be embarrassed of this, if you are capable of professional embarrassment,” Miller chided.
