Maine GOP State Rep Puts Secretary of State on Notice, Files Request to Impeach Her For Banning Donald Trump From the Ballot

Maine GOP State Rep John Andrews yesterday filed a request to impeach Democratic Secretary of State Shenna Bellows after she banned Donald Trump from the GOP primary ballot.

In a social media statement, Andrews declared, “This is hyper-partisanship on full display. A Secretary of State APPOINTED by legislative Democrats bans President Trump from the 2024 ballot so that she can jockey for position in the 2026 Democrat Primary for Governor. Banana Republic isn’t just a store at the mall.”

The request was filed with the Maine Revisor’s Office and in the letter, Andrews wrote that Trump has met the qualifications to be on the ballot and that his name should be allowed to appear on it during the upcoming primaries.

Democrats control both the House and Senate in the Maine legislature, but the move certainly should put Bellows on notice.

Social Media influencer Collin Rugg shared an interview that Bellows gave where she attempted to explain her position on X.

“JUST IN: Maine state Rep. John Andrews signals move to impeach Maine’s Secretary of State Shenna Bellows for stripping Trump from Maine’s ballot,” Rugg reported.

Rugg then suggested, “She should be imprisoned too.”

According to Rugg, Andrews also said, “I wish to impeach her on the grounds that she is barring an American citizen and 45th President of the United States, who is convicted of no crime or impeachment, their right to appear on a Maine Republican Party ballot in March.”

“This is raw partisanship and has no place in the office of our state’s Constitutional Officers,” Andrews reportedly explained.

Andrews explained further in an interview this morning with Fox News’ “Fox & Friends.”
