A video shared by the popular Twitter page Libs of Tik Tok shows a man confronting looters at a Target in Portland, Oregon.
When what appears to be a bystander in the video asks the man filming, “What’s the problem?” he responds, “This isn’t the kind of community I want to live in.”
The video begins with the man who is filming asking a group who appear to be stuffing merchandise out of carts into a van, “Sup man, y’all stealing?”
The apparent bystander then asks the man if he is instead the one who is stealing.
“I didn’t walk out with a cart full of sh*t,” the man continues as the apparent bystander asks, “who did?”
The man responds, “These guys did, look at all this.” The apparent bystander replies, “I don’t know nothing about that.”
“Y’all need 10 of them sweaters?” the man then wonders, mocking the looters who continue to stuff items into their van.
After telling the apparent bystander that this isn’t the kind of community he wants to live in, he then explains to him that he watched them “take eight of the sweaters off the rack and walk straight out.”
The apparent bystander continued to deny knowledge of the theft.
“Wow, welcome to Portland, right?” the man jests as the looters prepare to depart. A woman in the van tells him to “Shut the f*ck up” as she urges the rest of her compadres to hurry up.
The man then points out some items that they didn’t get into the van and tells them to make sure to turn their headlights on as they leave for safety purposes.
The Libs of Tik Tok Twitter page then shared a KGW NBC 8 article which specifically references residents complaining about that very same thing happening at that store:
People also say they constantly see shoplifting at Jantzen Beach stores; Johnson and Seaman say people walk into the Target there and walk out with armloads of items.
“They can go into any of the stores around here, pick up whatever they want and go out and employees can’t do anything. And they know that! So they do it,” Judi said.
Apparently crime has been skyrocketing in the area. “The Portland Police Bureau said it doesn’t have enough officers to prevent crime everywhere in the city” https://t.co/tOmvRDeoyr
