Today, U.S. House Rep Maxine Waters (D-CA) offered her support for Whoopi Goldberg, calling her a “highly intelligent, loving and compassionate woman.”
Goldberg is in the midst of a two-week suspension without pay that began on Wednesday after comments she made about the Holocaust.
Waters declared in a tweet, “I love Whoopi Goldberg, she and I have been friends for many years.”
“She is a highly intelligent, loving and compassionate woman. She would not knowingly do anything to hurt anybody,” Waters explained.
Waters then reiterated, “I support you Whoopi, friends for life.”
Anti-Trump actor and comedian Michael Rapaport, who recently was shocked by a brazen theft at his local pharmacy, responded to Waters by sharing his opinion on Goldberg, which is that the two-week suspension is not adequate.
Rapaport, who is Jewish, insisted that “They have an EVAPORATION CANCELLATION TECHNIQUE for special circumstances.”
In a clip, Rapaport said that if he were to make the same comments that Goldberg said about the Holocaust about slavery instead, the technique would be used on his career.

Most others, however, responded in the affirmative to Waters including one Twitter user, Vernell Dix, who told her, “Thank you Maxine, I support her to this is why the correct history being taught is needed. Especially on race and ethnicity because it can be confusing at times.”
“I will not watch the view without Whoopi on it. ABC got this wrong was definitely a time for deep discussion & learn,” Dix added.
