If you’re anything like me, you may get tired of hearing (or reading) about a particular subject over and over and over. However, since the parting of ways between Tucker Carlson and Fox News, it truly has been hard to look away.
For principled conservatives it has been tough. Many fans of Tucker Carlson’s are also fans of at least Greg Gutfeld and Jesse Watters. Gutfeld’s show has been a hit, taking other liberal late night shows down a notch.
Watters is a like-able and easy going guy who generally supports right leaning concepts. It’s clearly not their fault that executives at Fox News s*** canned Carlson for whatever reason they did it for.
On the other hand, particularly since the at least somewhat successful Bud Light boycott, conservatives feel somewhat obligated to boycott corporations they’re angry with. I personally can’t blame them and I understand the sentiment.
It’s up to each individual person to choose what they want to do of course. Many millions of people saw Tucker Carlson put out a video on Twitter after his firing which ended with him saying he’d see his fans soon in one form or another.
Many former news hosts from various channels and from both sides of the political aisle have been covering the Carlson backlash and paying attention to the behavior of the fans. Brian Stelter and Megyn Kelly have been tweeting a lot of information lately.
If you’re like me and don’t live under a rock then you already have formed opinions of the two of them and that’s totally ok! This article is mostly about the raw data although people like Kelly can perhaps improve as well.
People changing would be an entirely different article of course. Stelter recently tweeted some numbers for Fox News ratings comparing Carlson’s last night to Fox News without him.
Kelly saw this and analyzed it. She pointed out that comparing last Friday to this Monday may lead to folks drawing confusion conclusions because Fridays and Mondays can be a lot different. That’s the takeaway we got from her tweet anyway.
Kelly further analyzed the data posted by Stelter (we assume he didn’t make it up from thin air). Kelly believes that Fox News is losing viewers big time. You can see the two tweets and draw for yourself whatever conclusions you wish.
Stelter: Fox News viewership at 8pm ET: Tucker’s finale: 2.65 million Monday: 2.59 million Tuesday: 1.70 million Wednesday: 1.33 million
Kelly: You can’t compare Tucker’s Fri night ratings to this week’s Mon/Tue. (Fridays in prime are where ratings go to die.) Compare his last Mon/Tue to this week’s Mon/Tue. It’s a bloodbath: they lost HALF their audience.
We will continue to monitor various different political news situations including this one and do our best to bring the most critical developments to the website as we are able to.
