Miami’s GOP Mayor Francis Suarez recently invited Elon Musk to move the Twitter headquarters to his city from San Francisco, California after the company’s owner recently sounded off on a move that was made by the city against them.
It was reported on Tuesday that San Francisco building inspectors were launching an investigation into reports Twitter has converted several office rooms at its headquarters into sleeping quarters for employees.
A representative for the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection said that “We need to make sure the building is being used as intended.”
Musk responded to the report by sharing an article that reported on a 10-month-old baby who died on a San Francisco playground of a fentanyl overdose.
“So city of SF attacks companies providing beds for tired employees instead of making sure kids are safe from fentanyl. Where are your priorities@LondonBreed!?” Musk inquired.
That led to Suarez urging Musk in a quote tweet, “.@elonmusk it’s TIME to move @twitter headquarters to Miami. It’s not about politics, it’s about the soul of our country.”
Suarez added in a reply, “It’s what our entire #howcanihelp movement has been about. Creating a city that welcomes the American spirit of hard work, doers and dreamers. It’s on brand for the new iteration of @Twitter.”
According to the South Florida Business Journal, a recent report of cities ranks Miami as the nation’s second most creative municipality, thanks to its art, music and film offerings, and overall diversity, behind only Atlanta, Georgia.
