Friday in Iowa Mike Pence sat down with Tucker Carlson at the Family Leadership Summit. During his sitdown with Carlson, Pence expressed his “distress” over how slow America has responded to the needs of the Ukrainians in their war with Russia.
Carlson interrupted Pence while he detailed the slow movements.
“You are distressed that the Ukrainians don’t have enough American tanks. Every city in the United States has become much worse over the past three years. Drive around, there’s not one city that’s gotten better in the United States and it’s visible.”
“Our economy has degraded, the suicide rate has jumped, public filth and disorder and crime have exponentially increased, and yet your concern is that the Ukrainians, a country most people can’t find on a map, who have received tens of billions of U.S. tax dollars don’t have enough tanks. I think it’s a fair question to ask like where’s the concern for the United States in that?” Carlson asked.
Pence declared, “Well, it’s not my concern. Tucker I’ve heard that routine from you before and that’s not my concern.”
In another clip from the sit-down Carlson asks Pence about the persecution of Christians in Ukraine as Pence frequently proclaims his faith.
“It’s very clear that the Zelensky government has arrested priests…that’s not consistent with religious liberty; It’s an attack on it and we’re funding it.” I sincerely wonder how a Christian leader could support the arrests of Christians.”
Pence visibly irritated with the question responded, “I asked a Christian leader in Kyiv if that was…happening, and he assured me that it was not. I respect your, opinion on Ukraine. I trust you’ll respect mine.”
It appears Pence is more concerned with Ukraine’s war with Russia than with the deterioration of the United States. It doesn’t seem to be a stance someone who claims to want to lead America would take.
