Mitt Romney and Hillary Clinton Join Forces to Bash Trump’s Effort to Ensure Only Legal Votes Honored

Former Republican presidential nominee and current Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) has gained a supporter in former Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. While Romney has maintained that he’s a staunch Republican, he has also been avidly against much of what President Donald Trump has said and done while in office.

Most recently, Romney is taking political exception to the president’s fight against what he and many conservatives consider to be a fraudulent election. Trump has advocated for additional steps to be taken to ensure that only legal votes are counted from the Nov. 3 presidential contest. Trump and his supporters have made clear their belief that a nomination of former Vice President Biden will not reflect the will of the American people. This comes despite most media outlets calling Joe Biden president-elect, and social media censoring anything claiming to the contrary.

To that end, Trump and his legal team, aided recently by some state attorney generals, are trying to take the case all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States. Romney, however, doesn’t agree with Trump’s decision to continue his fight.

“It’s just simply madness,” Romney said according to ABC News. “The idea of supplanting the vote of the people with partisan legislators is so completely out of our national character that it’s simply mad,” Sen. Mitt Romney said Wednesday. “Of course, the president has the right to challenge results in court, to have recounts. But this effort to subvert the vote of the people is dangerous and destructive of the cause of democracy.”

Clinton tweeted a photo of Romney with part of his quote with the statement: “He’s right.”

Romney and Clinton are referencing the case initiated by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton where they request several swing states, including Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, to be excluded from participating in the Electoral College, due to evidence of voter fraud.

The president, however, is very positive about the potential for victory and a second term for the Trump administration.

“The case that everyone has been waiting for is the State’s case with Texas and numerous others joining. It is very strong, ALL CRITERIA MET,” Trump tweeted Wednesday.
