‘Mom is Gone’ Cher Shares Heartbreaking Message that Her Mother Georgia Holt Has Passed Away at 96 Years Old

Just after midnight on the east coast today, legendary singer Cher shared a heartbreaking message in a tweet that her mother Georgia Holt has passed away at 96 years old.

Holt was a singer as well, who recorded her album “Honky Tonk Woman” in the 80s and eventually released it in 2013. The album included a duet with Cher titled “I’m Just Your Yesterday.”

Today reported that Holt was married seven times to six men, including Cher’s father John Paul Sarkisian from 1946 to 1947 and she remained in a relationship with Craig Spencer from 1976 until her death.

Cher delivered the message in a three-word tweet where she announced, “Mom is gone” along with a sad face emoji.

Holt was apparently struggling with illness earlier this year, according to a previous tweet from Cher, although it is unclear at this time if it contributed to her passing.

On Sept. 9, Cher said, “Sorry I’ve Been Mia. Mom’s Been Sick Off (and) On. She Just Got Out Of (the Hospital). She Had Pneumonia. She’s Getting Better.”

Cher responded to a number of fans who sent their well wishes the next day. In response to one who sent their prayers, she said, “I’ll tell her…She’s a Tuff Old Boot…’My Grandmothers Saying’….96 & was Taking Meds. At Home.I Got Nervous Made appointment. “Guess your (prayers) WORKED,” Cher added.
