It was reported today that MSNBC has unexpectedly dumped former Joy Reid fill-in Tiffany Cross, who, as we reported, recently raged against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
Cross hosted the weekend program “Cross Connection” and according to a source close to the situation, she will be replaced by rotating guest anchors until a replacement is named.
Fox News reported that MSNBC decided not to renew Cross’ contract after two years and severed ties with her immediately.
Internally, the move is being billed as a programming decision so her staff will remain with the network and produce whatever lands the “Cross Connection” time slot.
Cross and her team received the news today, according to the report and MSNBC has declined to comment.
Fox News also noted that Cross was previously a fill-in host for Joy Reid’s weekend show “AM Joy” and got her own Saturday program in 2020.
Cross was known for her vitriolic statements about conservatives, having once remarked that there is already a “civil war” happening in the United States.
In addition, Cross previously urged liberals to “pick up a weapon” in the fight for democracy and referred to Thomas as “Justice Pubic Hair on My Coke Can.”
The reference was to testimony given by Anita Hill. Hill accused Thomas of being inappropriate, trying to date her, and talking to her about porn and sexual things. In her testimony, Hill says, “getting up from a work table, going to his desk, looking at this can and saying, who put pubic hair on my Coke?”
Hill testified in front of the Senate during Thomas’s confirmation hearings, making a mockery of Thomas in a similar way that was more recently done to Justice Brett Kavanah.
