OPINION
Earlier tonight we reported on conservative activist “Gun Girl” Kaitlin Bennett getting mobbed by protesters at Ohio University.
New video shows ‘Gun Girl’ Kaitlin Bennett being mobbed by a group of protesters who appear to throw a roll of toilet paper and other ‘projectiles’ as she attempts to interview students on the campus of Ohio University yesterday. See the recent Twitter below where Bennett says: “As leftists were pelting me in the head with projectiles, this girl basically told me I deserved it because I’m “in the extreme minority here”. I think @ohiou should know that their students think violence against minorities is okay!”

Although Bennett went there to spread her political ideas, she wasn’t there to cause physical trouble, as most reasonable people on either side of the political spectrum would conclude. But NBC News, upon reporting the story, flipped the script, to make Bennett seem like the “bad guy” with a tweet showing their coverage captioned, ” Conservative activist Kaitlin Bennett incited large-scale student protests Monday when she appeared on Ohio University’s Athens campus to film a video.”
Really, NBC? Did she really incite anything? They reported in part:
Conservative activist Kaitlin Bennett incited large-scale student protests Monday when she appeared on Ohio University’s Athens campus to film a video.
Bennett had arrived on campus to film a President’s Day trivia video for the Liberty Hangout, which bills itself as a libertarian media outlet, according to both her and the site. Bennett has been a divisive figure since gaining notoriety in 2018 for posting controversial graduation photos of herself with an AR-10 rifle at Kent State University.
She told NBC News in a statement Tuesday that she planned on walking around campus asking students trivia questions such as “Who were the first three presidents?” before she was interrupted.

Draw your own conclusions as to what you think about the Kaitlin Bennett situation, but I think it’s clear that a major news source is spinning the scoop pretty hard in the wrong direction. Of course, while they report it as news, this is just our opinion.
