NBC News Puts Reporter Ben Collins in Time-Out, Temporarily Sidelines Him From Covering Elon Musk on Air Over Attacks: Report

NBC News has put reporter Ben Collins in time-out, temporarily sidelining him from covering Elon Musk on air over recent attacks that he has levied against the Twitter owner, according to a report.

Collins was a part of the Twitter Space last night that included “journalists” who had recently been suspended from the platform and former CNN host Brian Stelter.

The report comes from a Semafor report, where which said that according to two sources, Collins was informed earlier this month his criticism of Musk was “not editorially appropriate.”

After the report about the benching, Collins tweeted a heart emoji.

“Journalist” Ashton Pittman responded to Collins, “Ben, it’s so shameful of @NBC to do this right when we need journalists like you most.”

“An organization that punishes journalists for daring to speak truth to powerful billionaires is not one whose leaders are devoted to journalism. Thank you for speaking truth,” Pittman added.

The Semafor article linked to an October 30 tweet by Collins where he responded to another “journalist” in a quote tweet, “Unless he’s trying to tank this place on purpose, I’ve never seen somebody more out of their depth in my life.”

“The dog has caught the car and is now demanding the car pay for gas,” Collins suggested.

“Journalist” Scott Nover had said in the original tweet, “I don’t think Elon Musk realizes how much money he’s going to lose on Twitter at this rate.”
