A new statue in Boston that is supposed to honor Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King has baffled many with its appearance.
Local news reporter Amaka Ubaka shared a video of the unveiling of the statue yesterday in a tweet.
“The bronze sculpture called ‘The Embrace’ honoring Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King has just been unveiled on the Boston Common,” Ubaka announced.
In a follow-up reply, Ubaka added, “Please read my other tweets about the sculpture—but here is another angle and the photo of the two ‘The Embrace’ is based on. It’s when MLK Jr. found out he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.”

Schaffer is also doing a poll in a separate tweet asking if the statue looks like a “turd, penis, sex act, or arms.”
Currently, “arms” is at a little over 5% versus the rest of the options all polling close to the same.

In response to Ubaka’s video, YouTuber Jay D. Cartere told her, “This is a terrible sculpture It looks like someone grabbing a thigh. A very different kind of ‘loving embrace.'”
