NYC Mayor Adams Essentially Compares Himself to MLK, Lists ‘White Supremacy’ As a Reason to Make His Brother a Deputy NYPD Commissioner

In what is essentially a comparison to Martin Luther King Jr., NYC Mayor Eric Adams listed “white supremacy” as a reason to make his brother a Deputy NYPD Commissioner.

Apparently, in fear for his life, Adams revealed that his younger brother, former NYPD cop Bernard Adams, will be tasked with protecting his safety, during an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

When pressed about nepotism and ethics concerns over the appointment, Adams to Tapper, “Let me be clear on this: My brother is qualified for the position.”

“Number one, he will be in charge of my security, which is extremely important to me at a time when we see an increase in white supremacy and hate crimes,” Adams explained.

While there has been a documented rise in hate crimes within the city, violent crime, in general, has continued to surge.

Progressives, meanwhile, are apparently not pleased with the appointment by Adams, as anti-Trump Twitter user “Fifty Shades of Whey” expressed his displeasure in a tweet.

“One week into being mayor, former cop Eric Adams appointed his own brother as the NYPD Deputy Commissioner, a position that has a salary of $242,000 per year,” he reported.

He then pointed out, “Bernard Adams’ most recent job was an assistant director for parking at a college. This is corrupt as f*ck.”

The New York Post also reported that during an unrelated press conference today, Adams added “anarchists” to the list of groups his brother can best protect him from, calling their security arrangement “extremely unique.”

Adams declared, “Protection is personal. You have an increase of anarchists in this city, country. We have a serious problem with white supremacy. And when you talk about this type of security that I want, it’s extremely unique. I don’t want to be away from my public.”

“I trust my brother. My brother understands me and if I have to put my life in someone’s hands, I want to put it in the hands of a person that I trust deeply, because that is a very personal process of your security,” Adams stated.
