Late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel claimed today that U.S. House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) overreacted to his bit that appeared to suggest she should be assaulted.
As we reported yesterday, U.S. House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) announced that she has reported Kimmel to the Capitol Police after he asked, “Wow, where is Will Smith when you really need him, huh?” in regards to her, a seeming insinuation that she should be assaulted like the actor did to comedian Chris Rock.
Kimmel quote tweeted Greene’s tweet where she made the announcement and said sarcastically, “Officer? I would like to report a joke.”
Greene responded to his quote tweet with a quote tweet of her own and told Kimmel, “You weren’t joking.”
“You hide your misogyny and your racism behind your ‘jokes’ on @ABC. This was a dog whistle to the violent left to assault me or worse, and your already inspiring fantasies of violence against me,” Greene lamented.
Greene then wondered, “How many new death threats will I get that are your fans?”

Kimmel was undeterred, however, and responded back to Greene in a quote tweet where he then told her, “The only fantasies you inspire are of silence.”
“Maybe you should report this to Animal Control?” Kimmel quipped.
Greene shot back in a quote tweet, “@jimmykimmel your fans called my office today in direct response to you inciting physical violence towards me. It’s not a joke.”
“You knew exactly what you were doing. @ABC and their parent company @WaltDisneyCo should not allow your misogyny & threats of violence,” Greene added as she shared recordings of purported voicemails left.
