Police Say Evidence Points to Student Who Reported Racist Notes on His Car Placed Them There Himself

After an investigation into who may have left racist notes on the car of a black student, Isaih Martin, at Texas A&M University, police say the evidence points to the student himself as the culprit in another “hoax.”

A Texas A&M University Police Department spokesman said there will be no further action taken by the department following its investigation and after consulting with the county attorney.

Lt. Bobby Richardson, who said he couldn’t elaborate on the findings, said that “Nobody has been arrested and we determined there was no offense committed and our investigation is closed.”

Martin maintained his innocence, saying, “I am utterly disappointed. There are several things they did not include in this report.” He has made his Twitter account private after he’s been faced with increased skepticism, especially after announcing this week he consulted with an attorney.

Prior to limiting access to his tweets, he posted, “I’m in a predicament where the topic of the case was let’s find out who did this to them pointing the finger at me. In the end, I stopped talking to them [the police] because it seemed they were more interested in me getting the blame for this hate crime instead of finding the actual person who did it.”

Texas A&M released a statement on the matter after initially offering a reward to find the “suspect.”

America First supporter Pete D’Abrosca wondered if Martin would receive the reward money.
