Over the weekend, Anna Giaritelli at the Washington Examiner wrote a scathing article criticizing President Trump and accusing him of not doing enough to try to get more border wall built. Now it seems the left’s criticism of Trump’s border wall stance is now being augmented from some critics on the right as well.
Yesterday, Trump defended his work so far, how he has replaced, “many miles of old Barrier with powerful new Walls!”
President Trump Tweeted:
“When we rip down and totally replace a badly broken and dilapidated Barrier on the Southern Border, something which cannot do the job, the Fake News Media gives us zero credit for building a new Wall. We have replaced many miles of old Barrier with powerful new Walls!”

In Giaritelli’s article, she describes how ‘roughly 700 miles of the 2,000-mile border has some sort of barrier as a result of the Secure Fence Act, which was passed by Congress during the George W. Bush administration.’ That bill received bipartisan support with only 19 senators voting against it. With today’s Democrat party, that would be unthinkable.
Giaritelli went on to describe how out of the 700 miles, ‘Approximately 400 miles is steel fencing comparable to the planned new wall, only shorter. The other 300 miles of the barrier is Normandy style or a handful of steel beams fastened together to prevent vehicular traffic from getting by.’
These videos by YouTube channel, Above The Lanes, shows footage of part of the 51 miles constructed so far to replace those Normandy style barriers in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. According to local news, 20 miles total was completed there.
