President Trump: ‘Gee That’s Too Bad’, After Hearing Mitt Romney in Isolation

President Trump held his daily press conference today to give important updates on his administration’s efforts to combat the Coronavirus. In the Q&A section, ABC News correspondent Trevor Ault asked Trump about when he last had in-person contact with Rand Paul (R), considering his positive test result.

“Gee, I think it was quite a while ago,” Trump replied. “It’s been a long time.” Ault then followed up, mentioning that four other senators were in isolation. “Who are they, please, who are they?” asked Trump. Various members of the press called out the names, including Romney, Sen. Mike Lee (R), Sen. Cory Gardner (R), and Sen. Rick Scott (R).

Trump visibly reacted when Romney’s name was mentioned, tilting his head. Ault continued, attempting to ask whether the president thought the Senate rules that required voting to be done in person should be suspended so that the stimulus package could be passed.

Trump wanted to talk about the previous question further though, and interrupted, “Romney is in isolation?” Ault replied, “yes,” prompting Trump to deadpan, “Gee that’s too bad.” Ault asks, “sarcasm there?” To which President Trump replies, “no, none whatsoever.”

Trump critics on Twitter were quick to blast the President over the exchange, while conveniently ignoring their own reaction to the news of Paul being infected. And even if it was sarcasm, the news wasn’t that Romney was infected, simply that he had been placed in isolation.

Engineer Travis Allen who has apparently built a following by criticizing the President and “been blocked by him three times” reacted by saying, “Trump is a terrible human being.”
