‘Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ Tina Turner Dead at 83 Years Old

It was announced today in a statement that the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll” Tina Turner has passed away at 83 years old.

Her death reportedly came after a long illness and she died peacefully at her home in Kusnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland.

In 2013, Turner relinquished her United States citizenship and became a citizen of Switzerland instead.

“With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model,” the statement read.

Turner’s second husband, Erwin Bach, donated a kidney to her when her kidney health was declining in 2017.

Turner won a total of 12 Grammy Awards in her music career and was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.

In October 2021, Turner sold the rights to her music collection to the music publishing company BMG for a sum that was reportedly north of $50 million.

Turner said at the time that she was confident that her music was in “reliable hands.”
