Rachel Maddow appears to have a soft spot for Tucker Carlson. In a recent interview, she seems to acknowledge that Tucker is having great success with his show “Tucker Carlson Tonight”, being the dominant 8 PM primetime show.
Maddow’s first “big break” was on Carlson’s MSNBC show “Tucker”. Maddow was a panelist on the show on the show from 2005 to 2008.
In a recent interview, she was asked about what she thought of Carlson and other right-wing commentators’ success.
“If you think about baseball players, who are extremely competitive and who are fighting to win and who have rivalries, and some of those rivalries are bitter rivalries, that doesn’t mean you don’t study the pitching technique of their star pitcher. It doesn’t mean you don’t appreciate whatever they’re doing in terms of, you know, where they put their shortstop in order to give them a better defense,” she said.
“There’s a sort of, like, respecting the game, in terms of people who are doing well and people who are good at it,” Maddow added.
Maddow said she recently ran into Carlson at an event and that it “was really nice to see him.” She has previously commented that “Tucker and I agree on just about nothing, but he has always been kind to me, and a fun person to fight with. I wish him all the best.” when he signed on with Fox as a weekend anchor or “Fox and Friends”.
It seems that the time they spent working together on MSNBC molded Maddow’s view of Carlson as a decent person who has always been respectful to her. An unexpected take from someone who seems to often dive off the deep end of the liberal side of the poltical spectrum.
