In a potentially positive turn of events for the 45th President Donald Trump, a judge that he had previously appointed is likely to designate a “special master” for the Mar-a-Lago raid investigation.
US District Judge Aileen Cannon scheduled a hearing for Thursday to consider the request by Trump to appoint the “special master.”
The third-party attorney, if appointed, would filter out privileged material seized in the search.
According to the scheduling order from the court, the government faces a Tuesday deadline to respond to Trump’s request in writing.
MSNBC’s Willie Geist had previously complained on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that the judge was appointed by Trump.
Ultra MAGA conservative Daniel Baranowski said of the news in a tweet, “It’s about time! The FBI vacuumed up everything in plain view, regardless of whose underwear they were boxing up!”
“How ridiculous & but malicious this raid was! Totally political!” Baranowski added.

Trump celebrated the news in a Truth Social post where he declared, “Federal Judge in Florida just took over the Presidential Records Act case, including the unprecedented, unnecessary, and unannounced FBI/DOJ Raid (Break-In!) of my home, Mar-a-Lago.”
“This assault was done for political purposes just prior to the Midterm Elections (and 2024, of course!). It is a disgrace to our now Third World Nation!” Trump insisted.
