Republicans Shocked as Jen Psaki is ‘Out of the Office’ While Afghanistan Departure Spirals Out of Control

Last night, Fox News reported that White House press secretary Jen Psaki responded in an email that she would “be out of the office from August 15th-August 22nd,” as the American departure from Afghanistan spirals out of control.

Politicians are allowed to take vacations, but with President Joe Biden putting a deadline on the departure of August 31, it seems like there was no foreshadowing as to how this could turn into a major problem.

President Joe Biden was scheduled to be in Camp David through Wednesday, but will now return to address the nation this afternoon, so it will be interesting to see if Psaki also cuts her break short.

Republicans reacted with shock to the news that Psaki was cutting out at such a critical time for the United States on the world stage.

In a tweet where he tagged the press secretary, U.S. House Rep Byron Donalds (R-FL) urged her, “Hey, @PressSec, now is a good time to return to work.”

“While you’re busy filming Tik Toks & on vacation, the Afghani people face the resurgence of the Taliban. Everyone at the WH seems to be out of office. America lacks leadership, and our enemies are cashing in,” Donalds lamented.

“Cc: @POTUS (Biden),” Donalds added.

The House Judiciary GOP shared the Fox News article in a tweet and explained, “Wow. The auto-reply stated that “the voice of the White House would not be available for the next week. . .”

ACT for America’s Brigitte Gabriel responded to the news by suggesting in a tweet, “Even Jen Psaki doesn’t want to make excuses for Joe Biden on the Afghanistan scandal. She’s out of the office for the entire week!”

Former marine turned novelist Matthew Betley appeared to sum up the thoughts of many conservatives best in a tweet where he also shared the Fox News article.

Betley stated simply, “Utterly shameful. Stay on vacation forever @PressSec.”

Just six days ago, during her daily press briefing, Psaki declared that the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan was not “inevitable.”
