‘RINO’ Gov. Brian Kemp Loudly Booed at GA GOP Convention, Primary Opponent Vernon Jones Reacts: ‘Change is Coming’

Much like Utah “RINO” Senator Mitt Romney, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp was treated with mostly hostility today at the state’s GOP convention.

A video tweeted by AJC reporter Maya T. Prabhu showed the governor being booed loudly by the crowd in attendance as he is being introduced.

Prabhu said in the tweet that, “He was speaking for about 30 seconds before it was quiet enough to hear him from the press area.”

“He got his first full applause when he mentioned Georgia being the first state to reopen during the pandemic,” however, Prabhu noted.

Kemp was a scheduled speaker for day 2 of the convention and was introduced by former U.S. Senator David Purdue, who lost in the runoff election in January.

Attorney General Chris Carr was also given an icy reception yesterday as he was “peppered with boos” according to the AJC.

Some could view Kemp’s speech as a circling-of-the-wagons heading into his potential re-election bid in 2022, the publication wrote.

Kemp’s primary opponent for that election former State Rep. Vernon Jones offered his take on the greeting for Kemp in a tweet while sharing the video of the loud boos.

“Today, Georgia Republicans made their voices resoundingly clear. Change is coming,” Jones declared.

A former Democrat turned vocal Trump supporter, Jones also addressed the crowd today and said in a previous tweet, “It’s time to put #GeorgiaFirst.”
