Roger Stone has been sentenced to 40 months for “lying to Congress and obstructing the Mueller investigation”. This is a drastic drop from the original sentencing recommendations of 7 to 9 years. The original sentencing was viewed as too harsh of a recommendation which Barr had the DOJ change. This had caused much backlash from politicians as well former DOJ officials.
NY Daily News Reported:
Judge Amy Berman Jackson handed down the sentence in a packed federal courtroom in Washington, closing the book on the last case brought as part of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and possible coordination with the Trump campaign.
“The court should not just shrug its shoulders and say this is a case of ‘Roger being Roger,’” Jackson said in explaining the sentence.
Stone, 67, donning a black wide-brimmed hat and his signature dark sunglasses, was all smiles as he arrived for the sentencing flanked by his wife, Lydia, and an entourage of supporters.
Trump tweeted earlier today before Roger was sentenced. “They say Roger Stone lied to Congress.” @CNN OH, I see, but so did Comey (and he also leaked classified information, for which almost everyone, other than Crooked Hillary Clinton, goes to jail for a long time), and so did Andy McCabe, who also lied to the FBI! FAIRNESS?”

As of now, Donald Trump has made no public comment as of yet regarding the sentencing. It is still unclear if President Trump will issue Stone a pardon. However, Stone is likey keeping his hopes up after the recent string of pardons issued earlier this week.
