During a press conference yesterday, Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis delivered a strong statement after four looters were caught in Lee County.
DeSantis declared, “We’ve had four looters that were arrested, I guess a couple [of] days ago, and they need to be brought to justice and we’re not going to tolerate it.”
“But you know, three of the four are illegal aliens and so these are people that are foreigners, they’re illegally in our country, and not only that, they tried to loot and ransack in the aftermath of a natural disaster,” DeSantis pointed out.
DeSantis concluded, “I mean, they should be prosecuted, but they need to be sent back to their home country. They should not be here at all.”
The crowd behind DeSantis appeared to agree and they began applauding as well as those in the audience where some shouted their approval as well.

Later on, DeSantis delivered an even stronger statement as he declared, “If I could I would take those three looters, I’d drag them out by the collars and send them back to where they came from.”
DeSantis made the motion of dragging them out by their collars and then pointed away to indicate sending them back. The crowd also applauded his strong words.

As we previously reported, four in Florida have been arrested and charged with looting in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. Much of the state has been devastated and brings out the best in some and the worst in others.
On Thursday, Omar Mejia Ortiz, 33, Valerie Celeste Salcedo Mena, 26, Brandon Mauricio Araya, 20, and Steve Eduardo Sanchez Araya, 20, were arrested by Lee County sheriff’s deputies.
Brandon and Steve Araya as well as Valerie Mena were charged with grand larceny. Omar Ortiz was charged with petit larceny.
DeSantis had previously made it clear at a press conference that “looting and lawlessness will not be tolerated” even as the state is recovering from this disaster.
