As reported by The Gateway Pundit, Republican Florida Governor and staunch Trump ally Ron DeSantis has drawn a line in the sand. He is making it clear that Florida will not become like Portland, Oregon, with riots and looting and people “getting mugshots” and then going back on the streets and doing it again.
In the video below, DeSantis reminds people that he supports free speech, but that support ends when someone or someone’s property gets hurt. Many have noted that DeSantis may be working with former President Trump to form an alliance, where he would be a possible VP ticket to Trump if he runs again, or possibly Ron could be a presidential contender himself one day.
DeSantis pushed back on liberal journalists: “First of all, we had a lot of protests in Florida, that were peaceful. No one said anything about it. But I also had a guy jump the fence in the Governor’s mansion. We saw some places in Tampa and Orlando, where people were starting to get violent.”
DeSantis went on though, to clarify that in Florida, violent protests were “reeled in pretty quickly” before he used the contrasting Portland, Oregon, for his example as we mentioned above. Watch the May 5th video below:
Time will tell what happens this summer as possible rioting groups may be gearing up for more disaster causing protests that often get way too out of hand. Meanwhile, many are pushing DeSantis to get every possible Republican bill passed in the state legislature to make the case that he is the conservative choice, if he becomes a future GOP leader on a more national scale.
One thing is for sure, rioters, at least in the panhandle state anyway, have been officially put on notice.
