Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called out Joe Biden last night on Fox News. During his appearance, he discussed Biden’s Thursday speech which was very divisive.
DeSantis shared the clip on Twitter with, “President Biden is the American Nero. Last night’s speech was a truly despicable spectacle. If you dissent from his agenda he considers you a “threat to democracy.”
In the clip, DeSantis says, “I thought it was one of the most disgusting speeches an American president has ever given. He ran as being a unifier and he’s basically saying to the vast majority of the country, that disapproves of him, that they’re effectively a threat to the republic. He dawdlers he lashes out, but at the end of the day, his policies are why there’s so much opposition to him.
“He came in and he opened the border and we’ve seen what a disaster that’s been. He kneecapped American energy. We’ve seen how that’s hurt millions and millions of people across our country. They’ve inflated the currency. We have one of the worst inflation we’ve had in over forty years. Of course, people are going to be upset at all the wreckage he’s left in his wake.”
“He is the American Nero. He’s a failed leader. And I think that he is doing this because is trying to energize his base to fend off a real butt whoopin’ this November.”

Biden’s speech “targeted” about half of the country in the eyes of many, calling the “MAGA extremists” a “threat to the foundations of the Republic”. This speech comes shortly after accusations that he has weaponized the FBI and DOJ, after the raid on former president Donald Trump’s Florida home.
DeSantis’s comments about Biden’s speech are echoed by many others in the Republican party. The decisiveness of Biden’s commentary was very blatant and his actions since becoming president are unsettling to many on the right.
Both sides are in a battle to get their voters out in November and it seems that Biden may have energized more on the right than on the left with his words.
