Ron DeSantis Takes a Stand For Florida Against Cultural Marxism and CRT, Introduces ‘Stop WOKE Act’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis introduced the “Stop WOKE Act” today at a press conference, taking a stand against cultural marxism and critical race theory.

The legislation is intended to ban critical race theory in classrooms and in corporate settings, such as employee trainings.

A clip tweeted by Michael Mella showed DeSantis speaking at the press conference:

With the rise of this woke idiology is an attempt to really delegitimize our history and to delegitimize our institutions and I view the wokeness as a form of cultural marxism.

They want to tear… they want to just, it’s not just people say ‘They are leftists or socialists’ it’s not just taxes and all that, yeah they do want that and that’s not good, but they really want to tear at the fabric of our society and our culture and things that we really have taken for granted like the ability for parents to direct the upbringing of their kids.

So this is really, really significant and when you see these things throughout the country where they take down Thomas Jefferson’s statue in New York City, where they take down Abraham Lincoln in Massachusetts, where they take George Washington’s name off schools in California, that is an attempt to erase history.

They want to delegitimize the founding of the country, the institutions and they basically want to replace it with a very militant form of leftism that would absolutely destroy this country if it ever took hold.

So we have a responsibility to stand for the truth, to stand for what’s right and we’re doing that and we put more resources and emphasis on teaching civics on teaching people on American history but we also have to protect people and protect our kids from some very pernicious idiologies that are trying to be forced on them all across the country.

So earlier this year, I directed the department of education to prohibit critical race theory in our k-12 schools.
