San Diego DA Charges 10 Antifa Members With Criminal Attacks on Pro-Trump Protesters

In a situation that would potentially garner national coverage by mainstream media outlets if the roles were reversed, at least 10 members of Antifa have been charged in alleged attacks on Trump supporters at a Jan. protest.

The defendants are accused by the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office of gathering on January 9, 2021, and perpetuating “direct action” against those who were participating in the “Patriot March.”

“Direct action” is defined by the DA’s office as “acts of violence such as assault, battery, assault with deadly weapons, arson, and vandalism” and the criminal conspiracy allegedly began “by liking and sharing” a Jan. 2 social media post that called for a counterprotest against the pro-Trump rally.

The accused Antifa allegedly used bear spray, sticks, flag poles, and tear gas to attack Trump supporters and face charges of assault, illegal use of tear gas, conspiracy to commit a riot, and conspiracy.

Twitter user “AntifaWatch” shared a clip of some of the Trump supporters being sprayed by the Antifa and said, “SoCal #Antifa are currently trying to raise bail money for 10~ of them charged with felony criminal conspiracy and more from a Jan 2021 event in San Diego where a number of Antifa attacked Trump supporters.”

In another tweet, Trump supporter “sasha monet” said of the arrests, “Believe it or not San Diego has arrested 10 members from ANTIFA.”

“Last year there was a Patriot Parade at Imperial Beach ANTIFA showed up from LA and attacked with Bear Spray, Kicking and randomly attacking Trump Supporters, it has taken 1 year,” she lamented.

Complaining about potential disparate treatment, she added, “Next hearing is Dec 17th-No Mug Shots”
