Sarah Sanders Calls Dan Scavino Promotion ‘One of the Most Overdue and Well Deserved in the White House’

Earlier it was reported that President Trump’s longest serving aide, Dan Scavino, was promoted to deputy chief of staff for communications. Maggie Haberman, White House correspondent for The New York Times, first broke news of the promotion on a Tuesday morning tweet with the quote, “He is one of the advisers Mr. Trump trusts without reservation.”

Sarah Sanders echoed those sentiments, calling it a “great move” and that it was “one of the most overdue and well deserved promotions to happen in the White House.” She said that Scavino was “talented” and a “genuinely good” person.

One of the most overdue and well deserved promotions to happen in the White House. @DanScavino is one of the most talented and genuinely good people I’ve worked with. Great move by President @realDonaldTrump and @MarkMeadows

Trump acknowledged Scavino’s skills during an interview with Politico in a May 2019 article titled, “Get Scavino in Here.” He credited Scavino with being a “very good sounding board” and having a “good grasp.”

“He has a knack for phrasing things in a way that can drive news cycles. Corporations pay people millions of dollars to break through on social media like that,” then Press Secretary Sanders told Politico.

Scavino’s relationship with Trump goes back a long ways. Scavino became executive vice president of Trump National Golf Club in Westchester in 2008 and was tapped to head Trump’s social media campaign in February 2016.

After winning the election, Trump hired Scavino to be director of social media and he was promoted to senior advisor for digital strategy in April 2019. He’s also been serving as assistant to the president.
