Schiff Claims Trump ‘Retaliated and Fired’ Cybersecurity Chief Krebs Because ‘He Protected Our Democracy’

Earlier today, President Trump announced that he was firing Cybersecurity Chief Chris Krebs who had been denying claims of fraud in the recent election.

As Politico reported, from his perch atop the DHS Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Krebs has been using his agency’s “Rumor Control” website, and his personal Twitter feed, to take on the “viral conspiracies” that are circulating widely in conservative circles, some of which have been promoted by the president and his top allies.

“To be crystal clear on [this], I’m specifically referring to the Hammer and Scorecard nonsense. It’s just that – nonsense. This is not a real thing, don’t fall for it and think 2x before you share,” Krebs tweeted four days after the election.

Trump said that “The recent statement by Chris Krebs on the security of the 2020 Election was highly inaccurate, in that there were massive improprieties and fraud – including dead people voting, Poll Watchers not allowed into polling locations, ‘glitches’ in the voting machines which changed votes from Trump to Biden, late voting, and many more.

“Therefore, effective immediately, Chris Krebs has been terminated as Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency,” He concluded.

Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff took issue with the decision by the president, like he does with most and claimed that “Director Krebs worked diligently to safeguard our elections from interference and misinformation.”

“He protected our democracy. And spoke truth to power. That’s why Trump retaliated and fired him. It’s pathetic and predictable from a president who views truth as his enemy,” Schiff concluded.
