Schumer and Schiff Parrot the Same ‘Illegitimate’ Complaint About Amy Coney Barrett After Dem Boycott Stunt

Earlier this morning Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) lambasted Democrats for their stunt of not showing up to the Senate Judiciary Hearing to advance Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court nomination vote to the full senate.

Instead, Democrats put pictures of people they allege to be people benefitting from the Affordable Care Act, or Obama Care. House Rep (R-CA) Adam Schiff and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) both spoke out on Twitter using similar language, giving the appearance that Democrats were indeed trading notes on this last-ditch dog and pony show effort to try to discredit Barrett’s nomination. Schiff tweeted:

“Days before the election, Republicans are trying to give an extreme nominee a lifetime appointment, to strike down health care, voting rights, and more. They refuse to let Americans have a say. It’s an illegitimate power grab and Democrats are right to boycott.”

Chuck Schumer also tweeted:

“Democrats are boycotting the illegitimate markup of Judge Barrett’s nomination in Judiciary. We are not going to have business as usual while the Republicans try to use an illegitimate process to jam through a nominee to rip away health care from millions.”

It’s unlikely the Democrats in the Senate will be able to stop Amy Coney Barrett from being nominated to a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court. Democrats however, have been insinuating that they might try to change the layout of the court altogether if the GOP nominates her to the seat.

This is something that the Biden/Harris campaign has been hesitant to confirm but absolutely will not deny. President Trump and the GOP are using this as a talking point to get Republicans and Americans who are happy with keeping the Supreme Court the way it is out to the polls to vote for Republicans including Trump.

Time will tell if this strategy pays off. One thing is likely true, if the Democrats feel they need to ‘stack’ the Supreme Court by adding more seats to help themselves, they will do it regardless of what the GOP does in our view. This appears to be an empty threat and the GOP should do everything they can to get Barrett in the seat and not give the Dems an inch.

Schiff and Schumer have a credibility issue as well when it comes to anti-GOP rhetoric. Schiff in particular has a history of fudging the truth, and then avoiding accountability, or claiming it was parody, depending on the situation. Will their stunts and opinions really turn the needle at all in this instance? It’s tough to say for sure but most likely it’s just more of the same from the likes of these two ‘showmen’.
