The Mayor of Seattle who let the CHAZ/CHOP fiasco run rampant a few months back, hurting businesses and seeing violent shootings occur under the ‘autonomous zone’ is now running scared after a report about Bill Barr was released.
Although unconfirmed, reports covered by mainstream news outlets said President Trump’s Attorney General William (Bill) Barr has been frustrating with the local and state reactions around the country to rioters and was looking to push prosecutors to charge some of them with ‘sedition’.
Included in that report was a possibility that Barr wanted to explore the idea of having Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan arrested. The New York times appeared to contradict itself here:
The attorney general has also asked prosecutors in the Justice Department’s civil rights division to explore whether they could bring criminal charges against Mayor Jenny Durkan of Seattle for allowing some residents to establish a police-free protest zone near the city’s downtown for weeks this summer, according to two people briefed on those discussions. Late Wednesday, a department spokesman said that Mr. Barr did not direct the civil rights division to explore this idea.
U.S. Attorney Brian T. Moran of Washington said: “at no time has anyone at the Department communicated to me that Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan is, was or should be charged with any federal crime”. Nevertheless, other news outlets have run with the story and whether or not it can be completely confirmed might not be settling Mayor Durkan’s concerns. After the New York Times report at least, Mayor Durkan said of the rumors, “chilling and the latest abuse of power from the Trump administration.” It’s unclear what she thinks now that Moran has attempted to debunk the news.
Durkan also said: “Ultimately, this is not a story about me. It is about the (sp) how this President and his Attorney General are willing to subvert the law and use the Department of Justice for political purposes. It is particularly egregious to try to use the civil rights laws to investigate, intimidate, or deter those that are fighting for civil rights in our country,” she wrote.

Whether or not Bill Barr is pushing for the arrest of Seattle Mayor Durkan, the sentiment from citizens pushing for law and order appears to err on the side that would support such a move. Under Durkan’s watch, we have seen the Seattle police chief forced to resign after pushback from leftists and rioters harassing her at her home, and her pay was cut at rioters behest, further demoralizing Chief Carmen Best, although she said it wasn’t about the pay cuts.
Previously we reported an exclusive on the situation at its worst in Seattle, including a takeover of city hall under Durkan’s watch:
The city of Seattle has officially responded to Media Right News after an inquiry regarding rioters taking over their city hall two nights ago. Meanwhile, Anarchists have set up an ‘autonomous zone’ where Seattle Police are afraid to go inside and stop armed men despite the strict gun laws in Seattle. President Trump has tweeted at the Governor that if he doesn’t do something, President Trump will.
“Radical Left Governor @JayInslee and the Mayor of Seattle are being taunted and played at a level that our great Country has never seen before. Take back your city NOW. If you don’t do it, I will. This is not a game. These ugly Anarchists must be stooped IMMEDIATELY. MOVE FAST!”
New reports have come in that ‘socialist’ city councilwoman Kshama Sawant who allowed the rioters to enter city hall is now costing taxpayers extra money to protect her seat as she faces legal battles. A group of residents filed a petition to recall Sawant back in August.
Time will tell if any of the reports about Durkan’s possibly arrest show any merit. Meanwhile, things seem to be looking up for President Trump’s possible re-election and the narrative to stop violent rioting and looting around the nation from Trump and Barr is likely to continue to get tougher as we get closer to November 3rd.
This comes and Trump wants to look like the law and order candidate, despite massive headwinds from the left for the federal government to take it easy on rioters because they are U.S. citizens. Recently Democrat Presidential Candidate Joe Biden decided it was time to also call for an end to rioting despite his previous attempts to fit in with and even kneel before ‘Black Lives Matter’
