U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) appeared today on NBC’s “Meet the Press” and told host Chuck Todd that Joe Biden’s classified document situation is “certainly embarrassing.”
However, Stabenow also chastised Republicans for wanting to investigate the situation.
As we reported on January 5th, Stabenow announced that she won’t seek re-election in 2024 and will “pass the torch.”
During the interview, Todd pointed out that Biden had “previously said what Donald Trump did was careless.”
“Does he have to eat those words considering what happened with him,” Todd wondered.
Stabenow admitted, “Well, it’s certainly embarrassing, right? It’s embarrassing that you would find a small number of documents, certainly not on purpose, they don’t think it’s the right thing and they have been moving to correct it.”
“From my perspective, it is certainly one of those moments that they wish hadn’t happened,” Stabenow continued.
Stabenow then tried to deflect from the situation, chastising Republicans for wanting to investigate the situation.
The suggestion that Republicans are wrong for wanting to do so seems ironic considering the spectacle that surrounded the House January 6 Select Committee.
“People in Michigan, they want folks that are going to work together and get things done, that care about their families and aren’t interested in all this chaos and investigations, which is where the Republicans feel comfortable, unfortunately,” Stabenow concluded.
