Shaun King Wrecked on Facebook for Not Using ‘Proper Pronoun’ of Protester Allegedly Killed by Driver Dawit Kelete

Black Lives Matter promoter Shaun King posted to Facebook to lament the tragic death of a protester who was run over by Dawit Kelete, who appears to be an African American or Somali man by some reports. Media Right News would like to note that it is always tragic to see any death of anyone and this is no exception and is indeed a tragic situation all around.

Since the driver was not white and didn’t fit the narrative of the mainstream media, many outlets scrambled to make the titles of their story fit that Summer Taylor was killed by a car.

That or that she was ‘killed by a luxury car’, thus focusing on the death of the person who was protesting on a Seattle highway, rather than the person responsible for causing the death. King Posted of Taylor:

Summer Taylor. ⁣

24 years old. Animal lover. Worked full time at a veterinary clinic in Seattle. ⁣

Summer was a trusted ally of Black Lives Matter in Seattle and was brutally killed last night when a man literally barreled over people with his car on an empty road that police had blocked off for protestors. ⁣

Protestors were literally joyfully dancing to the Cupid Shuffle when a man driving a white Jaguar sped right through the crowd, sending Summer and others flying into the air. ⁣

He then drove for miles, having just killed Summer, and injured others, until he was finally stopped. ⁣

We saw this happen in Charlottesville just a few years ago with Heather Heyer – another ally who was standing with Black Lives Matter.⁣

Standing with all of my friends in Seattle today. Just heartbreaking. ⁣ ⁣

King tried to conflate the situation with what happened in 2017 when James Alex Fields accelerated into a crowd of protesters at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, VA, reportedly contributing to the death of Heather Heyer. Of course, King made no mention of Dalit Kewete, or the possibility that he wasn’t even politically motivated.

Ironically, the comments didn’t mention the driver much either, if you look at the top, or the ones that got the most engagement. No, it looks like liberal hero King was engulfed by his own left-wing ‘woke rage mob’ for not pointing out that Summer Taylor had preferred pronouns of they/them, rather than she/her. It was reported that another person hit by Kelete was also not considered a “she” either, which was pointed out by some commenters.

King has not updated his post as of yet to reflect his or apologize (that we are aware of). There isn’t a whole lot of commentary to add, as the whole situation speaks for itself. Just a couple of examples below in a screenshot:

A story by the Santa Monica Observer added an edit when they were notified that their story also had the wrong pro-nouns of Summer Taylor:

Correction, 7/6/20: Several readers have pointed out to me that the 2 victims described in this story were/are non-binary, rather than transgender. For the distinction between non-binary and transgender, please see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-binary_gender

SMO had originally reported:

For the 19th straight night in a row, protestors had blocked the Interstate 5 freeway that runs through Seattle, in order to conduct their protest.

A white Jaguar evaded several police vehicles serving to block the highway for the protestors, hitting two transgender women who were attending a Black Lives Matter rally. All the major news networks replayed the video footage on TV.

Summer Taylor, 24 of Seattle was killed Saturday night, when the white Jaguar driven by Kelete veered around several cars blocking the highway, sending the two women flying. Diaz Love, 32, of Bellingham is reportedly in critical condition after the accident on Interstate Five in downtown Seattle Saturday night.

The Washington State Patrol is holding Kelete on possible terrorism or manslaughter charges. His bail has not been set, and charges have not yet been filed. His arraignment is set for tomorrow afternoon.
