US House Rep Ilhan Omar, who last year referred to the 9/11 terrorist attacks as “some people did something” while complaining about the alleged mistreatment of Muslims every time “something happens,” posted a video tribute today to the victims and called for unity.
She made two separate tweets, one on her official government account and one on her personal account. The first one was made on her personal account at 9:59 am, which is also the same time that the first World Trade Center tower collapsed on that fateful day.
She said, “19 years later, we remember the lives and loved ones of all who died from the deadliest terror attack in our history. Today, let us also unite behind a vision of a brighter future for our country and world — a future without violence or endless wars, full of justice and peace.”

Today, let us also unite behind a vision of a brighter future for our country and world — a future without violence or endless wars, full of justice and peace.
While that tweet called for unity, although it also seemed to be criticizing both the police by saying “full of justice” and previous administrations by referring to “endless wars.”
The second tweet on her government account was made close to an hour later and featured a video tribute where she talked about her personal experience from that day in 2001. This tweet appeared to be more of a tribute and not a political statement.
“19 years ago, our country changed forever. Today and every day, we remember the lives taken on 9/11 and the brave first responders who risked everything. I will continue to fight to support our first responders and families who lost loved ones,” she stated.

The call for unity though, comes a day after a call for President Trump’s resignation and for him to be held accountable in a pair of tweets, again, one on her personal account and one on her official government account.
This time, she first tweeted out from her government account yesterday a retweet of a tweet from the House Education and Labor Committee, which is chaired by Virginia Democrat Bobby Scott.
That tweet, which included a video slamming Trump, claimed that “For the past 6 months, the President repeatedly claimed that young people were “virtually immune” from #COVID19 and pushed schools to reopen without adequate resources to do so safely. #TrumpKnew that was not true and put our children’s health at risk.”
Omar added that “More than half a million children in the U.S. have had COVID-19. Trump blatantly lied and put our children’s health in jeopardy. He must be held accountable.”

Then Omar retweeted a March 9th tweet from President Trump which shared statistics at that point about the Coronavirus versus yearly flu statistics.
She said of that tweet, “Don’t let this stay yesterday’s news: Over and over again, Donald Trump downplayed the threat of COVID-19 — all while knowing how dangerous it was. Almost 200,000 people have paid the price for his lies with their lives. If he refuses to resign, we will vote him out.”
