Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Dead at 87-Years-Old

A Supreme Court press release tonight announced that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has passed away at 87 years old. She was surrounded by family at her home in Washington D.C. and they said that it was from complications of metastatic pancreas cancer.

Reports say that just days before her death, as her strength waned, Ginsburg dictated this statement to her granddaughter Clara Spera: “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”

Congressional candidate Marjorie Greene tweeted out that “The Senate needs to return to DC ASAP and work on confirming another Supreme Court Justice before the election. We have no time to waste. Every Senator needs to be in DC NOW!”

Former White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders offered her condolences, “RIP Justice Ginsburg. Prayers for her family.”

Chief Justice John Roberts said, “Our nation has lost a justice of historic stature. We at the Supreme Court have lost a cherished colleague. Today we mourn but with confidence that future generations will remember Ruth Bader Ginsburg as we knew her, a tired and resolute champion of justice.”

Back in July, a Supreme Court press release said that Justice Ginsburg underwent a minimally invasive non-surgical procedure today at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City to revise a bile duct stent that was originally placed at Sloan Kettering in August 2019.

According to her doctors, stent revisions are common occurrences and the procedure, performed using endoscopy and medical imaging guidance, was done to minimize the risk of future infection.
