Ted Cruz Goes to Bat for Clarence Thomas Amid Faux Democrat Outrage to Try and Impeach Him

U.S. Sen Ted Cruz (R-TX) today went to bat for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas amid outrage from the Democrats who want to impeach him.

U.S. House Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has been leading the charge along with U.S. Sen Dick Durbin (D-IL) after a report was published by ProPublica.

Cruz shared a Wall Street Journal op-ed titled “The Smearing of Clarence Thomas.” The subtitle of the piece said, “The left gins up another phony ethics assault to tarnish the Supreme Court.”

“The latest in the vicious smears directed at Justice Thomas. The Left will stop at nothing—no matter how scurrilous— to try to destroy Justice Thomas and the Court,” Cruz declared.

In the op-ed, the editorial board explains that Thomas did nothing that would stand as a legitimate reason to be impeached.

According to the article, “it seems clear that the Court’s rules at the time all of this happened did not require that gifts of personal hospitality be disclosed.”

The report from ProPublica “fails to make clear to readers that the U.S. Judicial Conference recently changed its rules to require more disclosure. The new rules took effect last month.”

As Cruz referenced, “This campaign has been underway with particular ferocity since the Court’s majority shifted during the Trump years toward Justices who have an originalist view of interpreting the law and Constitution.”

Fox News, however, downplayed the likelihood that anything would come of it as “Democrats have been all bark and no bite before.”
