Tempers Flare During Mayorkas TX Visit As Border Patrol Agents Confront Chief Ortiz About Biden Policies

Tempers flared during a visit by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas during a visit with border patrol agents in Loredo, Texas.

The DHS secretary was in the room as agents confronted Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz about Joe Biden’s policies.

A leaked video that was reported on by Fox News’ Bill Melugin showed the discord that occurred during the visit.

At the beginning of the video, Ortiz declared, “I get it. You come to work, you’re frustrated. You’re upset because you didn’t get the desired outcome that you want. Doesn’t mean you give up.”

One agent shot back, “We’re not” to which Ortiz retorted, “I know you’re not. That’s why I’m saying, we don’t give up. We stay focused, we continue to do the job and the mission that we signed up for. We all signed up for it, we all raised our hand.”

Another agent then told Ortiz, “It’s kinda hard to say that when…” and he appeared to cut them off and said, “It’s not hard to say it. It may be hard for you to say it, I’ve been doing this for 31 years. It’s not hard for me to say it.”

Ortiz then suggested, “You’re getting bogged down in the policies and the politics” after other agents chimed in that “you keep releasing criminal aliens into the country.”

Multiple agents then complained that they can’t use the term “illegal aliens” to which Ortiz pointed out, “You just said it. Ain’t nothing gonna happen to you.”

“Why are you guys getting caught up in semantics? … I’ve been doing this job as long as y’all,” Ortiz stressed as he continued to brush off their concerns.

Undeterred, another agent let him know, “That’s the problem, chief. For evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. That’s exactly what’s happening here. Good men are doing nothing. You’re allowing illegal aliens to be dropped off in communities.”

Ortiz then attempted to shift the argument and insisted that agents are doing good work by rescuing people and taking fentanyl and methamphetamine off the streets.

Another agent shot back “And under this administration, in the last year, we’ve got the highest fentanyl deaths in the history of our country.”

Ortiz noted that the U.S. has caught more fentanyl coming across the border this year than last year, but one agent wondered how much is not being caught to which Ortiz answered, “I don’t know. We’re working on it.”

Unconvinced, the agent lamented, “And that’s the problem!”

As Fox News put it, the video then concluded when someone in the room then cracked a joke, defusing the tension.

Melugin later did an interview with Donald Trump’s former Acting ICE Director Tom Homan who slammed the Biden Administration.

“I was able to enforce the law and these men and women aren’t able to enforce the law… For a year now they’ve been told to turn their back on border security,” Homan explained.
